This past weekend I dressed up in my latest steampunk clothing costume for an photo event. It was a fun day and I have to say my outfit turned out pretty good. It is especially good considering I’m now 32 weeks pregnant and finding anything to wear is an especially big challenge (pun slightly intended.)
Every time I dress up in a costume I am looking around at other people’s clothes and I get ideas on what I want to wear next. In the case of my next steampunk costume I am seriously looking at some new clothing I have found online:
Steampunk Corset
Since I can’t wear a corset top now I am eyeing this one for a post baby top. I currently don’t have anything like this and I am really eager to wear one. Corset tops on their own or worn over a lacy blouse are a great way to add Victorian style in a sexy kind of way. I don’t think my husband would object to seeing me in this at anytime : )
This one features cute ruffle edges and a semi-bustle in the back.
Steampunk Jacket
The next steampunk clothing item I need is some kind of jacket, wrap, or shawl. Those bare shoulders from just the corset top are fine in summer but brrrr in winter I would be hovering by the fireplace. There are so many great choices out on the web in all sorts of price ranges. I personally like simple ones like this so that I can add my own buttons, belts, and gears and really turn it into a unique steampunk jacket. See this and more jacket options here on my Steampunk Clothing shopping page.
Steampunk Skirt
Of all the items online this skirt is hands down on my “must buy now” list. It can be bustled in the back, or gathered up in the front like shown. It comes in two colors: black, grey. A similar three-way skirt also comes in red. I like the grey because I can also use it for a quick traditional Victorian skirt as well. I would pair this with some fun and funky steampunk style tights or Victorian bloomers.
Steampunk Shoes
I recently found a huge collection of amazing steampunk boots at SEARS! I find the best shoes at sears and now I can add steampunk boots to my list of great finds. If you want tall or short boots with gears, buckles and lace then check out my Victorain and Steampunk shoe shopping page. Besides boots I saw these cute steampunk flats. I think I like them more than the boots. If they were not already affordable I would think of decorating a cheap pair of flats with my own steampunk inspired tid bits.
Steampunk Necklace
As soon as I saw this brass bicycle steampunk watch necklace I was in love. So unique and not overdone in the steampunk clothing world. I could wear this as a necklace, as an attachment to my current choker, or as a hanging accessories off my new steampunk skirt. The possibilities are endless and that is why I think I like it so much.
What’s your plan for your next steampunk costume?
